+ What is a bentwood ring?
Typical wooden rings are made from taking a single board, or a group of laminated boards, and cutting a hole in it and shaping it into a ring. This method tears through the wood grain and makes it prone to breaking and splitting. However the bentwood method takes a thin strip of wood and wraps it around itself into a circle. While wrapping it, the wood is glued to itself and the long grain of the wood remains intact, traveling around the circumference of the ring. Because of this, you are left with a beautiful ring that is strong and durable.
+ How long will a wooden ring last?
The short answer is that it depends on how well the ring is treated. I do not want to pretend that they are indestructible, they are made of wood. Yet I have tried with all my strength to crush these rings in my hands, and they never give. I firmly believe that if cared for, and with occasional refinishing, my bentwood rings can last a lifetime. Below you can find additional information about how to care for one of my rings and what to expect from them.
Important Information

+ Expectations of Appearance
Each wood ring is unique and handmade by me. The wood grain, shade, and characteristics will vary slightly on every ring and may not look exactly like the ones you have seen pictured on my blog or in my Etsy store. However, on every ring I make, I am selective of the strip of wood I use to ensure that each ring is a good representation of the wood species used to make it.
+ Finish
My rings are finished with a hard, durable, and waterproof CA wood finish. It can be polished to a high gloss that shines like glass, or given a natural satin finish.
It is important to note that any wood product with any finish applied to it, will wear down over time. The rings I have made for myself have not needed to be refinished until around 1 year of continual wear (and that is with doing all the things I recommend not doing). See below for tips on caring for the ring to decrease the wear on the finish and options for refinishing your ring.
+ Care & Use
My rings will hold up well to everyday life. However, to keep them looking great longer I suggest you avoid wearing your ring when doing things that could dent it or damage the ring's finish. This could be when working with metal handled tools, cleaning with harsh chemicals or abrasives, doing heavy lifting, or playing sports. You should also avoid using alcohol based hand cleaners or sanitizers when wearing your ring, as this can affect the finish.

It is recommended that you avoid prolonged contact with water. While it is waterproof and safe to wash your hands with your ring, you should avoid wearing it when swimming, washing dishes, or showering and bathing.
+ Refinishing
With the purchase of a ring, I will gladly refinish it once for free within the first year. All you need to pay is any shipping cost. After the first year, there will be a $10 fee plus shipping to refinish your ring.
+ Ring Size
Any jeweler can size you for a ring. The width of the ring you choose will affect the size you need. Be sure to account for that and let the jeweler know when getting sized. The widths I make are 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, 6mm, 7mm, and 8mm.

If the ring made for you does not fit, and was not made to your specified size, then simply return the ring to me and I will gladly remake your ring for no additional cost.

If your ring was made to the specified size ordered, yet does not fit, I will do everything I can to adjust your ring and make sure it fits perfectly. If the adjustment is too drastic and the ring cannot be resized or adjusted to meet the new size, a new one will have to be made. In that case, there will be a fee of half the price of the ring to create a new one.
